PCAD Visits NCC, Solicits collaboration on ICT deployment in artistic designs and creations

The Association of Professional Creative Artists and Designers (PCAD) in Nigeria yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission to request collaboration with the Commission to enhance the deployment of ICT in Artistic Designs and Creation.

The Association’s delegation to the Commission was led by Kingsley Okafor, its National President and Chairman Board of Trustees, was received by Tony Ojobo, Director Public Affairs on behalf of EVC/CEO of NCC, Professor Umar Danbatta.

Specifically, the PCAD asked for NCC support to help educate the teeming artists and designers in Nigeria to see the derivable benefits of ICT utilization in arts, graphic designs and all spheres of life. More concretely, Okafor said deployment of ICT in Arts and Designs to highlight the richness of our cultural heritage holds great potential for employment and economic growth.

He informed the Commission that his Association will soon organize an Art Walk Exhibitions and Events and seized the opportunity of the visit to formally invite NCC to participate in the event planned to educate the relevant stakeholders of the role of ICT in Arts and Designs. Such platform Okafor added will be good to amplify NCC’s voice on the ongoing campaigns and sensitization of telecom consumers as expressed in the Year of the Nigerian Telecom Consumer campaigns and its ancillary components.

The Association commended the Board, Management and staff of NCC for fast-tracking the deployment of ICT in the country and for creating an enabling regulatory environment for private investment to flourish and thus increasing employment and growth in the economy.

Ojobo expressed delight at the visit and thanked Okafor and his colleagues for appreciating the strides of NCC. He expressed interest in the proposed exhibition and assured the Association that its proposal in that regard would be sent to Management for consideration.
